Law Enforcement Basic Sniper Course

The basic sniper course is designed for new or inexperienced snipers and explains the difference between the military and police sniper, with the primary focus being the training and operation of a police sniper in an urban environment. The course begins with classroom topics covering the role of the sniper on a SWAT team, ballistics and use of force considerations. Instructors ensure proper fit of the rifle to the sniper and live fire training exposes the sniper proper zeroing of the rifle, marksmanship fundamentals, target identification and threat discrimination. Low light operations, fieldcraft, data book documentation and numerous courses of fire are included during the week of training.

The basic sniper course is a 5 day, 50+ hour course. It is a physically demanding course designed to teach the sniper to perform mentally and physically while under stress. It is recommended that students be in good physical shape and are capable of running, crawling and kneeling.

Required Equipment:

 

500 rounds of match grade ammunition
Sniper Rifle & Case (preferably drag bag)

Night vision optic for rifle (if available)
Data book
Callout Gear (Camo clothing and/or ghillie suit, camelback, backpack, etc.)
Eye & ear protection
Knee & elbow pads (optional - but recommended)
Rain Gear
Water or hydration device (Camelback)
Notetaking materials (including pen, pencil, calculator and small flashlight)
